what exactly happens when the expiry module expires? will all the posts be
"expired" and erased?

what exactly happens when the removal module expires? will I no longer be
able to remove topics? will I no longer be able to remove the software
itself?

No, but you'll lose the automatic expiry functions, i.e. MPNews will not be able to automatically delete old posts.

what exactly happens when the removal module expires? will I no longer be
able to remove topics? will I no longer be able to remove the software
itself?

You won't be able to delete messages with either the "Delete article" option in MPNews Management or with cancel messages from your newsreader. The MPNews uninstaller is unaffected.
