How do the "email list" forums work?
I belong to a couple of organizations that use Yahoo Groups for their discussion groups and posting of messages, etc.  What the people in those groups like about Yahoo Groups is that the group messages automatically show up in their email, and they can respond to the messages using the same email.  For them, that means not having to go to any website or log in to a forum to check messages and to participate in the forum.  Personally, I think the NNTP forums are MUCH better and much faster to use, but I can't get people to use a newsreader, etc.

So, my questions are:

1) Is using the level of newsgrouphosting service offered by MessagePixels which includes "email lists" a way of creating a newsgroup forum that people can access EITHER via email (like they do with Yahoo Groups) or via NNTP access, so the same group would be accessible to all types of users?

2) Is there anyone out there who is already doing something like this that I or others could check out to see how it works?

Thanks.

Re: How do the "email list" forums work?
Nick,

This is exactly one of the unique features of MPNews is that the same system can handle Web forums, newsgroups, mailing lists, and even RSS feeds. Another option is that users can susbscribe to "e-mail alerts" which gives them a message in their Inbox and link to the Web forum for new messages (as mailing lists with lots of posts can get cumbersome).

Sorry, I don't have a sample mailing list enabled at this time.  Let me know and we could give you a trial for a couple weeks on your account if you wish (after first of the year).

Re: How do the "email list" forums work?
Chris,

Thanks.  I'll get back to you about the mailing lists idea, and to see what the mailing list feature does.  But first I need to see if I can the get the forums I already have set up working correctly.
