We are constantly improving MPNews, and we will occasionally release updated versions with new or improved features. When you purchase MPNews you are entitled to these minor upgrades free of charge.
Checking for updates
When we release a new update, it will be announced in the mps.mpnews and mps.mpnews.updates newsgroups. You can subscribe to the RSS or Atom feed, or get e-mail alerts to let you know when there is a new version available.
Installing an update
You can normally install an update by simply downloading and installing the latest version of MPNews from the main download page. This will overwrite your existing version, but preserve any messages and settings from the previous version.
Some updates may require some additional changes to be made for the update to take effect. For example, when an update includes a new version of the web template files, these will not be overwritten automatically in case you have customized them yourself. To apply any modifications made to the default web template to your own web site, log into the virtual server administration site and click on the "Web Browser Access" item. Click on the "Template" item, select the "Default" template and click "Apply".
The message in mps.mpnews.updates will include full details of what is included in the update and any special steps you have to take to install it.
