Hi Al,
(are you the "Clipper"-Al Acker?) Maybe try to delete the history.data.idx and history.idx files in your mpnews data\<newsgroupname>\ -folders. But I think this will only help if you don´t use sql-database to store the messages.
Before deleting stop mpnews services, than delete the history files, than restart mpnews service. The files will be rebuild as soon you login into the web forum interface of mpnews, only accessing by OE seems not to rebuild them.

Still getting this message when trying to post to ANY of my groups.
Any help would be appreciated.   We're running out of ideas here and I really don't want to trash the product and start out from scratch with something else.
