Wish: individual message or thread move to another forum
I've not seen an easy way to move a message or thread to another forum without fuss.

Forum software usually offers a move facility to moderators where messages/threads may
copy pasted elsewhere when best answered in another forum.

NNTP Followup-To: imo is a poor kludge when what is needed:

/Copy original message/thread unchanged to the new forum with prepended
"moved from forum # by # datetime #"

/Cleanup original forum supercede replace original messages with "moved to forum # by # datetime #" + comment "more appropriate forum"
"spoiler enforced" "inappropriate language" "flames removed"

Related wish from web forum software, user or moderator message editing...

Any ideas ?

Thanks Paul

Paul, I will consider.  It's tricky because newsreaders really don't provide a clean way to do this and can react poorly to unexpected changes (as you can see just from the simple changes I made to these newsgroups recently).

Thanks Chris no hurry, need to determine if this is regarded as a
useful feature by other users - I'm sure web forum admins would miss
this feature.

Original thought...
I was thinking in terms of browser web forum access.  Our special
permission watchers moderate when needed (delete flames-spam)
through a browser.  The admin moderation functions are still carried
out by virtual server admins.

I'll give the NNTP reaction some more thought, the Moved-To: forum
should be happy with moved messages and thread correctly when messages
are moved in original order - dates will be bumped forward as though
are new messages. (not good with already x-postd messages with earlier
date unless moderator posted as a new thread).

Not sure how newsreaders may react to supercedes/replace,  particularly
if a users local reader cache is message locked ?

Replying users may encounter messages deleted by an original poster
anytime already.  I suspect that adding an extra tick option to the
existing "allow user to delete other users messages" to permit a
superuser ability to "allow user to supercede other users messages"
may be a solution to edit the old message via browser.

Would supercede or replace scale to peers or have I gone off at a
tangent ?    Guess feature would need to bypass the default forum
settings for supercede or replace for normal users as well.

I would find this option useful if it were to be made available.
