Filter by IP Address

I'm getting spam from a specific IP address and I would like to set up a filter to reject posts from that specific IP address.  I've tested setting up a filter using my IP address for the test, but I can't seem to get a filter set up that rejects the post.

So if the specific IP address that I am trying to reject is 24.135.122.81, I'm assuming that I put 24.135.122.81 in the IP address field.  I've tried 0.0.0.0, 255.255.255.255, 255.255.255.254, and 24.135.122.81 in the mask field, but regardless of what I put in the mask field, the posts go through.

So my first question is... What do I put in the mask field to limit the filter to just the one IP address?

Second question is, do I need to restart the MPNews service for the filter to take effect?

BTW, this is a NNTP server allowing anonymous access, if it makes a difference.

Thanks.

Re: Filter by IP Address
Rather than a filter, use the IP Blacklist feature.  You will find it in the Virtual Server Admin under Users.

Set the IP address and use a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0 (Class A network).

You should not need to reset the service for it to take effect.

Let us know if you continue to have problems.
